BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT UPDATE 11/19/2021

Good Morning,

Paving and paving prep is continuing on Summer Street with occasional one way traffic above Partridge and detoured to thru traffic (except school busses) between Partridge and Old State Road. This should continue until early to mid next week.

Tomorrow, Saturday the 20th, Keller plans on working on Summer Street to create a rip rap swale to protect the new pavement from washouts on the hill above the Partridge intersection. Expect one way alternating traffic and some delays between Partridge and Old Cheshire road.

BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT UPDATE 11/2/2021

The plan for this week is to continue paving and testing on Summer Street today and tomorrow (with detour). Thursday the entire crew will go to Hollow Road to start the water main. All other work is paused while this takes place so that it can go as fast as possible in order to minimize access issues. I am about to distribute paper notices to everyone affected and Mark Siegars said he would call his contact from BARC as well. Residents should plan around having no access to their driveways during working hours until the crew has passed their house. BARC should only be affected Thursday. There is a contact number for Keller on the notice that residents can call with questions or concerns. The work on Hollow Road should take place Thursday, Friday, Monday and maybe Tuesday. This may be affected by weather or existing conditions and I will keep you posted with any updates. After Hollow Rd. is completed Keller should have the pressure reducing valve vault ready for install on Summer St.

BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT UPDATE 10/18/2021

Tomorrow Keller plans to finish the “2” section of Glassworks water main. House 30 and 31 will have limited driveway access in the afternoon, they will be able to see Keller progress up the hill towards them and we will also coordinate with them. On Wednesday Keller plans to start section “3”. This should hopefully be finished by end of day Thursday. I encouraged them to provide flyers for the houses affected on the stretch of road but at this point Keller has spoken with a majority of the residents directly regarding it and plan on knocking on doors tomorrow to speak with the remainder. Paving the first layer of blacktop is scheduled to begin on Summer St. on Wednesday. This will cause 1 lane travel so delays should be expected but the road will not be closed. The paving and testing will continue into the coming weeks.

BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE 10/7/2021

After a discussion with Keller, their plan is to start at the Old State Road connection on Monday. They will have detour arrows each day to help show residents the best way in and out. Attached is a sketch showing the “three phases” the pipe will be installed in. For the third section residents will receive paper notifications from Keller two days in advance of work since that will be the most challenging section for access. Section 1 will begin Monday. Sections 1 and 2 should take 1-2 weeks total, section 3 should take 2 or 3 days. This is all dependent on how well things go with weather, the existing water system, and any miscellaneous finds.

Water main disinfection and testing will also begin on summer street on Monday, this will have little to no impact on traffic there.

As always let me know if you have any questions.

BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE 10/5/2021

This is an update from the on-site Engineer

Keller was once again delayed by the rain storm this Monday. It is looking like tomorrow will be the last day laying pipe in Summer St. Their plan Thursday is to clean up along Summer St. and move equipment to the easement on Glassworks, no access will be blocked. On Friday digging on Glassworks will begin starting on the gravel road end of the easement. Houses 31 and 30 may have some delays getting in and out of their driveways for that morning but crew and details are ready to work with them to make sure they can get in and out when they need to.

For the next couple weeks they will continue from the easement through the paved portion towards Old State Road and then reset and complete the pipe for the branch of road just past Lori’s.

Obviously this is all subject to change with weather or unforeseen conditions and I will do my best to keep you updated with any changes.

BERKSHIRE VILLAGE WATER MAIN PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE 9/28/2021

This is an update from the on-site Engineer

Good Morning,

I had a discussion with Keller and the Police details on site. Keller will continue working on Summer Street (on the old state road end) for the rest of this week. Their plan is to move to Glassworks afterwards however there is a significant amount of groundwater and ledge that is slowing their pace and preventing drilling, when the end of the week gets closer I can provide an update if this is still a reasonable goal. The police details have made the decision to detour cars coming from old state road to swamp/Partridge but still allowing buses to come from this direction. One way traffic coming from the other direction on Summer will be maintained the entire time but delays should be expected. As always, emergency vehicles will have total access with no delays.
